[Title Slide - Soybean Disease Update. Your Arkansas Soybean Podcast, University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board.]

[Dr. Jeremy Ross, Soybean Agronomist standing in a field giving a presentation at a field day] Disease-wise it's been pretty hot and dry, until the last few days we've got a few showers in certain parts of the state. And so, disease pressure has been very low so far, but with the temperatures and the occasional rain shower that we're getting, you know, the canopy is starting to stay fairly humid, especially if you're using overhead irrigation, you're setting yourself up to maybe have some disease problems.

[Slide - Pictures of a diseased soybean plant with Aerial Blight and diseased soybean leaf and soybean pod with Frogeye] But so far, the incidence has been on aerial blight and frogeye has been fairly light but we are starting to pick up more and more up every week. So while you're out there looking for boll worms, be looking for disease problems.

[Slide - Pictures of a diseased soybean leaf with Soybean Rust] Everybody wants to know about the soybean rust. [Dr. Jeremy Ross] That's probably the last thing you need to be thinking about right now, just because the temperatures and the conditions, environmental conditions we've had just aren't conducive for that particular problem.

[Narrator] Your Arkansas Soybean Podcast is a production of the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture and was funded in part by the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board. For more information about soybean farming in Arkansas, contact your local county Extension office.
